How Can My Agency Request a Thermographic Survey?
A thermographic survey can help state entities avoid loss or damage to property by identifying potential vulnerabilities. You may be eligible to have the cost for this routine preventive maintenance reimbursed by the Department of Administrative Services.
A thermographic survey of your building can identify inefficiencies, insulation issues, electrical defects, and heating issues. If left untreated, these issues can cause moderate to catastrophic loss and damage.
- State entities must use an approved vendor contractor for thermography services.
- You may request reimbursement from DOAS Risk Management Services (RMS) for a survey that:
- Indicates no recommendations; or
- Includes recommendations and supporting documents that show recommendations have been addressed.
- Before scheduling your appointment, clearly identify the electrical and/or mechanical components to be surveyed.
- Agency coordinators can email the Risk Management inbox for the thermographic survey vendor’s contact information.
- Contact the contracted vendor to set up your appointment.
- On the day of survey:
- The electrical load should be as close as possible to normal operating levels to identify any potential problems more accurately.
- A qualified agency technician must be available to safely open and close electrical panels and cabinets for the surveyor.
- Before the surveyor leaves, discuss their findings. Be sure you understand any recommendations and their potential impact on your operations if not addressed.
- Your agency is responsible for payment of the vendor’s invoice.
- To request reimbursement, submit the paid invoice and payment documentation to the Risk Management inbox.
- RMS will review the request and contact you with reimbursement details within 30 days of the submission.
