Property Insurance
The State of Georgia owns or occupies over 15,000 buildings throughout the state, and pursuant to O.C.G.A. 50-16-9, Risk Management Services, covers more than $30 billion worth of state owned buildings and personal property through a combination of self-insurance and excess property insurance purchased thru a commercial insurance brokerage firm.
We also provide insurance to all state-owned building and personal property, and cover exposures to loss of money and securities, watercraft used on inland lakes, fine arts, mobile equipment, personal property temporarily away from premises, and leased equipment. Building and content insurance coverage is based on properties and values reported by each agency into Buildings, Land, Lease and Inventoried Property (BLLIP).
