Military Leave Update
Effective January 1, 2026, the twenty-four-month limit on approved military leave without pay has been removed. This change will apply to employees on approved military leave without pay beginning on or after January 1, 2026, and existing military leaves as of December 31, 2025. The military leave without pay limits will be based on your military orders. You will be directly billed by Alight (GaBreeze), and you are required to pay your Flexible Benefits premiums to Alight. If you do not pay your premiums, your Flexible Benefits coverage will be terminated. The regular (non-military) approved leave without pay limit of one year remains unchanged.
Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) Coverage End Dates
Effective January 1, 2026, STD and LTD coverage will terminate at the end of the month employment ends.
Example: Your employment ends on January 21, 2026. The STD/LTD coverage will end on January 31, 2026.
Note, if the effective date of your termination is the first of the month for STD/LTD, your coverage will end on that day.
Example:
- Last Day Worked/Termination Date = August 31, 2026
- Retirement effective date = September 1, 2026
- Coverage end date = September 1, 2026
- Deduction stop date = August 1, 2026 (You are not required to pay premiums for September.)
