Tier Four: Convenience Statewide Contracts and Other Sources
If you cannot purchase what you need using Tiers 1, 2, or 3, then you may pursue a wide range of other sources.
This tier consists of convenience statewide contracts, GEPS preferred products, SPD approved piggyback purchases, cooperative purchasing following public notice, and open market purchases.
Convenience Statewide Contracts and Preferred Products
In Tier Four, you can purchase products and services using Convenience Statewide Contracts and Preferred Products from Georgia Enterprises for Products and Services.
There are several advantages to using Convenience Statewide Contracts and Preferred Products :
- You do not need to bid on purchases of $25,000 or more on convenience statewide contracts because the competitive bid process has already been completed.
- You can easily find items which are conveniently located in the on-line Statewide Contract Index.
- There are no dollar limits, other than budgetary, on purchases from Convenience Statewide Contracts or Preferred Products.
You are encouraged to determine if needed goods and services are available from either of these sources prior to searching for other sources, especially sources on the open market.
Other Sources
Other sources in Tier Four are:
- Piggyback purchases with prior approval from SPD
- Cooperating purchasing agreements following public notice
- Open market purchases
For conditions for use of other sources, including any prior approvals and bid requirements, please refer to Sections 1.3.4 of the Georgia Procurement Manual .
