Sexual Harassment Prevention

On January 14, 2019, Governor Brian P. Kemp signed an Executive Order for Preventing Sexual Harassment in the workplace, furthering Georgia's commitment to providing a harassment free environment for employees and citizens who interact with State Government. 

The Executive Order, signed on the Governor's first day in office, requires a Statewide Sexual Harassment Prevention Policy which applies to Executive Branch agencies, authorities, boards and commissions. A chief goal of the Policy is to ensure consistency in reporting and responding to complaints of sexual harassment across State Government.

The Policy also requires mandatory sexual harassment prevention training for all employees, as well as manager-specific training, and a uniform standardized process for reporting and investigating complaints of sexual harassment in the State of Georgia.

The Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) Human Resources Administration (HRA) Division, in conjunction with the Executive Counsel to the Governor and the Office of the State Inspector General (OIG), is responsible for leading and providing guidance on the implementation of the Policy.

To that end, DOAS HRA has provided an updated toolkit with links to a document library, an employee policy acknowledgement form, checklists, FAQs and other information related to training for employees, managers, supervisors and investigators.

The Governor's Executive Order and the Statewide Policy demonstrate the State's commitment to providing safe, respectful workplaces for all employees. The State of Georgia does not tolerate sexual harassment or retaliation in any form.
